STIHL ElastoStart™

The ElastoStart™ starter handle is a feature of STIHL. It is a starting grip with a built-in shock absorber that helps reduce the effort when pulling on the starter cord. The ElastoStart™ starter grip noticeably reduces the sudden peak forces (compression) normally felt during cranking. The forces which occur at the grip after the first compression stroke are smoothed out.

Semi-Automatic Choke Lever

The semi-automatic choke lever enables the simplified three-step start procedure, saving users time and allowing them to start jobs faster.

Simplified Starting Procedure

To get started, users simply pump the fuel primer, set the choke, and pull the starter cord. The built-in stop switch allows the user to turn off the engine with a simple press of the button. When the engine is off, the throttle lock automatically returns to the "start" setting. The tool will be ready to start again when the user is ready to get back to work.

TapAction™ AUTOCUT Cutting Head

TapAction™ allows users to adjust the line length simply by tapping the cutting head against the ground.

Throttle Trigger Interlock

Tool-Free Handle Adjustment

The FS 251’s easy-to-adjust bike handles provide comfort and ease while tackling widespread, overgrown areas. With a rugged design that offers optimal maneuverability and a vertically-pleated paper air filter that provides an extended service life, you can get to work quicker and count on the gas trimmer to last longer.

The STIHL FS 251 trimmer has been upgraded to deliver more cutting power and greater efficiency. Its new high-torque gearbox provides 13.5% more torque, allowing for faster, cleaner cuts through thick grass and brush. The cutting radius has been expanded from 16.5" to 17.7", helping users cover more ground with fewer passes. A redesigned deflector with skirt complements the wider radius, improving debris control and trimming precision. The gearhead has been angled to 35 degrees for improved ergonomics.
